Liza Papazian BA, RMT, ART

Liza is the owner of Empowerment Massage Clinic and provides a dynamic combination of business skills with a solid foundation in therapeutic assessment and treatment of pathologies. She is a graduate of Bishop’s University (1995) with a degree in Business Administration and Political Studies.

She moved to Fredericton in 1998 and returned to school to study Massage Therapy. In April 2001, she graduated from Kine Concept Institute of Massage Therapy and earned the first “Outstanding Practical Hands-On Award” from the school. She is also the first Canadian to win the 2001 American Massage Therapy Association Scholarship Award which allowed her to start up her own business 15 years ago. Liza was a lead Instructor at Kine Concept from September 2001-2006 where she taught Remedial Exercise, Gross Anatomy and Therapeutic Massage Treatments and Assessment.

In 2004, Liza became certified in Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) and now specializes in this area. She works closely with A.R.T. in order to accelerate the natural healing of soft tissue injuries. A.R.T. has offered her the exceptional tools necessary to unlock new or long-standing injuries that have not responded to other forms of treatment. She is available to offer presentations on A.R.T. upon request. A former elite level gymnast, she also brings a wealth of experience to her treatment of athletic injuries. She is an avid runner and a former boxer who has enjoyed traveling across the country for national level boxing events. Liza now spends her time closer to home and works tirelessly for the Empowerment way to health.

Liza is focused on providing the public with an accurate picture of how Therapeutic Massage can lead to improved health. The desire to educate the public regarding the true benefit of manual therapeutic treatments has led to the creation of Empowerment Massage Therapy. The approach to treatment incorporates the best of Massage Therapy and A.R.T. in order to achieve results efficiently. She is fully committed to establishing a top quality massage therapy facility offering relevant services to the public. Liza works one on one with staff members to hone skills, exchange ideas and help develop the Empowerment Massage approach.

Laura Lynch RMT, ART

Laura has been practicing massage therapy since 2005 and is a senior staff member at Empowerment Massage Clinic. She specializes in ART, Acupuncture and Cupping Massage which she applies in most of her treatments. Her confidence is portrayed in her practice and knowledge of anatomy and pathologies of the body make her treatments specific to her client’s needs. She believes in educating her clients, and encourages them to engage in postural awareness and remedial exercises which empowers the healing process.

Laura leads a very healthy lifestyle and has been a long standing member at the YMCA. She participates in many outdoor activities such as running and cross country skiing but also has a passion for yoga. She believes that a well-balanced lifestyle not only enhances a healthy mind, but also helps to manage chronic pain, and will in turn, prevent re-injury.

Since studying Acupuncture in 2010, Laura has a firm understanding of how the body works in a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, which gives her the ability to treat more complex physical ailments. Laura is very passionate about her work and takes pride in what she does.

Vanessa Lanteigne, RMT

Vanessa graduated in October 2007 from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage and is a longstanding member of the Empowerment team. Vanessa has proven herself to be consistent, compassionate and a steadfast team player. She has worked exceptionally hard over the past several years to improve her knowledge of specific treatments and hone her therapeutic skills. Vanessa has studied Foot Reflexology and received her certification in 2012. She has also studied Reiki and Cupping Massage which she uses in many of her treatment plans today. She has built a strong reputation for her ability to identify client concerns and address issues accurately and effectively. Her approach is gentle in nature and this enables the client to release any tension patterns that they may be holding.

Vicky Taylor, Office Manager

Vicky has been at the hub of our clinic since 2006. She manages to orchestrate the schedules and demands of all the therapists at ATC while still performing many clerical duties. She is the most “hands on” with regards to our clientele and all others related to the clinic. Vicky has a knack for multitasking and we have come to appreciate her deeply for her commitment and dedication to our business.

Vicky graduated from Saint Thomas University in 1993 winning the creative writing prize in English. Vicky is interested in art, meditation and spiritual practices. She has a passion for painting, mixed media, reading, creative writing and strategy games. If there are any problems with scheduling or other concerns, Vicky is the person to ask!

Joe Myshrall, RMT, ART

Joe graduated in March 2006 from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. He has worked in the field of Massage Therapy since that time at various locations in the province including the Algonquin for two years. He provides both relaxation and therapeutic treatments for his clientele. Joe prides himself on being able to provide professional and effective treatments by placing the client’s goals at the forefront of every massage. Each treatment is unique to the client, and is geared not only to treating present pain but also to help prevent further injury. Joe is a strong believer in self-care, remedial exercise, and finding the root of pain to improve the overall quality of life. He joined Empowerment Massage Clinic in March of 2012 and has received his certification in A.R.T. and began his practice in Empowerment Massage. Joe also holds a Mastery in TMJ Release and has achieved excellent results for his clients in resolving chronic jaw dysfunction and pathologies.

In 2010, Monique moved to Fredericton from her hometown of Woodstock to pursue her career in Massage Therapy. She graduated from Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in 2012 and has become an integral member of our team. In school, she specialized in pregnancy massage and labour support. Monique has her certification as a Doula and has assisted in several deliveries for her clients. She has also pursued her certification in Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) in 2012 and 2014 and Cupping Massage in 2015. She shows a keen interest in A.R.T and many other Massage Therapy techniques. Monique is an outgoing and approachable person who has her client’s best interest at heart and will do everything in her power to help them reach their goals.

Emily Whalen, RMT, ART

Emily Whalen graduated from Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage Fredericton in 2012 with a certificate of achievement in sports massage. She is specifically trained in acupuncture, active release technique, cupping massage, myofascial release, sports massage, TMJ mastery, and KT taping.

Emily encourages her patients to participate in remedial exercises and healthy living changes. Emily has worked with numerous sports teams in Atlantic Canada; IAA World Junior Championship, CFL Calgary Stampeders, and the UNB Swim Team. She looks forward to continuing her education in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

In her free time Emily assembles workshops in NB on gardening, soap making, canning and preserving, kombucha brewing, and more. She also owns her own natural product business and has a passion for the outdoors.

Tanya Gervais, RMT, ART

In 2008, Tanya moved to Oromocto after being in Europe for 4 years. Her father was in the military so she has travelled extensively, and lived all across Canada. Tanya is fluently bilingual in French and English and recently graduated from Eastern College in January 2015 as a Registered Massage Therapist.

She is one of the newest members of the Empowerment team, and always knew she wanted to be a massage therapist. From a young age, Tanya was fascinated with anatomy and how the body moves and functions. With the encouragement and support from family and friends, she was able to reach her goal. Tanya is very excited to have started her career with Empowerment Massage Clinic as of May 2015. She is very interested in pursuing her certification in myofascial release techniques and ART. Tanya is very dedicated and passionate about her clients’ wellbeing and will do whatever she can to help them reach their goals.
